Facts
Hadar Peled was driving south on San Antonio Road in 2004. Lisa Hartmayer was traveling on westbound Miller Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Hartmayer broadsided Peled's vehicle on the driver's side. Peled, 27, filed a lawsuit against Hartmayer, claiming negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The defense admitted liability.

$10,000. The plaintiff, who is a teacher at a parochial school, sought $4,800 in lost earnings for two weeks of work she missed. The plaintiff also sought $8,000 for work she will miss after undergoing surgery. $15,360.
Damages
The plaintiff sought damages for past and future pain and suffering. She claimed her injuries kept her from being able to care for her infant son. She also claimed that her quality of life was disturbed because she was unable to perform her duties at her synagogue as well as with a professional theatre production company she was a member of.
Injuries
The plaintiff suffered ulnar nerve damage to her right wrist. The wrist was set, but the plaintiff will need future surgery to further repair the damage.
Result
The parties settled for $50,000 (Hartmayer's policy limit). This settlement was reached after an arbitration hearing proved unsuccessful.
