Facts
On March 13, 2006, plaintiff Lynzzee Quinonez, a minor, was riding in the passenger seat of a car driven by her mother, decedent Lucia Del Carmen Martinez. They were heading north on Leimert Boulevard, where it intersected with Vernon Avenue in Los Angeles.
At about 6:45 a.m., the car and defendant Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority bus collided. The bus was driven by defendant Yolanda R. Reyes. Lucia Martinez died as a result of the accident.
Injuries
Plaintiff claimed injuries including a fractured right finger, a sprained left hand, a left leg laceration, a facial contusion, tongue laceration, chest pains due to the seatbelt, and emotional distress.
Result
A settlement in the amount of $200,000, which included $50,000 in attorney fees, $3,694 in medical expenses and other expenses totaling $12,837.
Other Information
Decedent's other children, defendants Jessica Martinez and Dennis Alexander, were included as nominal defendants so that all of decedent's heirs were before the court. FILING DATE: July 17, 2006.
