Facts

On July 11, 2007, a charter bus driven by defendant Wendy Wright and owned by defendant Liberty Charter Inc. rear-ended a vehicle driven by Pollyana Salas-Uruena as she slowed to a stop. Salas-Uruena brought an action against Wright and Liberty Charter, alleging motor vehicle negligence and vicarious liability.

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Sala-Uruena asserted that Wright drove above the speed limit while talking on her cell phone, and failed to pay attention to the road. Allegedly, Wright did not see the stopped vehicles in front of her and crashed into the rear of Salas-Uruena's vehicle.

Injuries

The plaintiff sustained a closed head injury.

Result

The parties reached a settlement amounting to $614,000.
