Facts
On April 20, 2009, Glen Rader brought his vehicle to a stop while driving on Whittier Boulevard in an effort to let another car turn into a driveway. A vehicle operated by Reginald Freeman crashed into the rear of Rader's car, and Rader filed suit against Freeman.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that Defendant negligently operated his car, and that Defendant drove without paying enough attention and did not stop in time to steer clear of the crash.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant conceded liability for the incident, but disputed the injury and damages.
Damages
Rader requested $18,094 for past medical costs, $74,00 for lost earnings, and damages for pain and suffering.
Injuries
Plaintiff suffered aggravation of preexisting condition, arthritis, and knee and shoulder injury. He required chiropractic care.
Result
The parties entered into a settlement for $15,000.
