Facts

Sellers of a California-based broker-dealer sued a large financial conglomerate comprised of four independent broker-dealer firms for millions of dollars in damages arising out of a $12 million acquisition that closed in 2008, just before the unprecedented economic collapse.

Result

The defendant won a summary judgment ruling and obtained the dismissal of all claims asserted against it. Defendant was also entitled to recover the costs and disbursements incurred in defending the claims.
