Facts
Plaintiff Georgia Bode, an anesthesiologist with an excellent performance record, had her temporary hospital privileges suspended when a single ampule of Demerol allegedly was improperly returned to the hospital where she worked. Prior to Bode's employment at that facility, the hospital already was on a provisional accreditation due to a history of past mishandling of controlled narcotics. When the Demerol issue arose, Bode was suspended following an emergency peer review meeting despite the fact that she properly returned the Demerol. Bode denied the accusation and exhausted her administrative remedies over the course of ten years before bringing this action.
Result
Verdict in the amount of $2,177,000.
