Facts
Leticia Paz filed suit against the Commissioner of Social Security, seeking judicial review of the denial of her application for Social Security Income benefits and disability insurance benefits.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Paz suffered from a history of gastric bypass surgery with iron deficiency, carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome with history of surgeries, hepatitis C, lumbar degenerative disc disease, polysubstance abuse in sustained remission, mood disorder, and anxiety disorder.
Based on her conditions, she filed an application for a period of disability and benefits. Her applications were denied.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
An administrative law judge found that while Paz suffered from multiple impairments, those impairments did not meet or medically equal a listed impairment. The ALJ also found that Paz had the residual functional capacity to perform light work.
Result
The court affirmed the ALJ's decision.
