On March 6, 2014, plaintiff Andre James Adams was traveling southbound on his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle when defendant Sandra Coleman Ridout, who was traveling northbound in her 2006 Cadillac, made a sudden westbound turn in front of plaintiff colliding with plaintiff.
Plaintiff sued defendant driver and the owner of the vehicle, Gerald W. Ridout.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff claimed that defendant was in violation of California Vehicle Code section 21801(a) failure to yield to oncoming traffic while turning left, and section 22107, unsafe turning movement.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants did not dispute liability.

Injuries
Plaintiff claimed he suffered multiple pelvic fractures requiring open reduction and internal fixation of the anterior pelvic ring using plate and screws and closed reduction percutaneous pinning of the posterior pelvic ring. Plaintiff also claimed right sacral fracture, pubic symphyseal dislocation, extraperitoneal hematoma, pelvic hemorrhage requiring embolization, urological trauma and nerve damage resulting in erectile dynsfunction, acute anemia, hematuria, and numerous abrasions and contusions.
Result
The case settled for $1.1 million.
