Plaintiffs Steven and Teresa Verhoeff, who were employed as truck drivers, purchased a premade building garage from defendant Morgan Building and Spas Manufacturing Corp. On Sept. 10, 1995, three days after the purchase, while closing the door to the garage, the opening mechanism failed and caused the plaintiff wife to receive a blow to the chest from part of the failed mechanism. The plaintiffs, husband and wife, brought this action against the defendant based on negligence and strict products liability theories of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiffs demanded $325,000. The defendant offered $175,000.
