Facts

A number of class actions were filed, including the two above-referenced matters, against several defendants, alleging illegal lotteries, including the Lucky Case Game and American Idol Challenge, were promoted by entertainment, telecommunications, and advertising enterprises during broadcasts of popular prime-time television shows, including NBC's "Deal or No Deal" game show and Fox's "American Idol." Plaintiffs alleged that the lotteries were illegal under California's Penal Code and Unfair Competition Law.

Result

The parties agreed to settle the matter by providing full restitution to class members who submit valid claims. Defendants are enjoined from participating in similar promotions for a period of five years.
