On April 28, 2013, Felipe Rocha, an employee of the Los Angeles Police Dept., collided with plaintiffs' vehicle. The collision occurred on Western Ave. north of 38th Place, in Los Angeles. Plaintiffs sued Rocha and the City of Los Angeles for motor vehicle negligence, liability for the wrongful act or omissions by public entity employees, and reckless operation of motor vehicle.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that Rocha recklessly and carelessly operated his vehicle so that it collided with plaintiffs' vehicle, causing plaintiffs serious injuries and damages. They also claimed that the City of Los Angeles negligently hired and supervised Rocha.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The City of Los Angeles denied plaintiffs' allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.
Result
Plaintiffs settled with the City of Los Angeles for $400,000.
