Facts
Plaintiffs purchased diet pills sold by former bodybuilding champion Lee Labrada's company. The pills were promoted by television show host and cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Mehmet Oz, on his television program.
Plaintiffs sued Harpo Productions Inc., ZoCo Productions LLC, Entertainment Media Ventures Inc., and Sony Pictures Television Inc.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that the diet pills were useless, and not "magic" weight loss pills defendants claimed they were.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Sony contended that it was not a coconspirator with defendants and that its involvement in promoting the website touting the pills was minimal.
Result
The court dismissed Sony from the suit.
