Facts

Greg Martin a Federal Express employee, sued defendants after they denied him short term disability benefits under the plan provided by FedEx.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff's job required him to lift 75 pounds, and his doctors all told him that he was limited to 10-15 pounds due to severe tenosynovitis in his hands. Plaintiff contended that defendants abused their discretion in terminating his short-term disability benefits.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants contended that plaintiff's claim for disability benefits was properly denied because plaintiff failed to submit objective evidence of a medically determinable physical or mental impairment that prevented plaintiff from performing the duties of his regular occupation.

Result

Following a bench trial, the court entered judgment in defendants' favor.
