Facts

Plaintiff was an employee of Blue Shield of California and was a participant in its long-term disability plan. She asserted a single cause of action for ERISA benefits under 29 U.S.C. Section 1132(a)(1)(B) after her claim for benefits was denied.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that she was disabled because of a cognitive disorder stemming from a seizure disorder. She claimed that her claim for long-term disability benefits was improperly denied.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant contended that plaintiff's claim was properly denied because she was not disabled.

Result

The court concluded that plaintiff was disabled, and granted her motion for summary judgment. The court denied defendant's cross-motion for summary judgment.
