Facts
On June 25, 1996, plaintiff Elizabeth Barron, a 30-year-old jewelry manufacturer and marketer, was traveling on Harrison Street in San Francisco. The defendant Zebra Awning Company's truck was double parked, blocking a lane of traffic on Harrison Street between 17th and 18th Avenues in San Francisco. The plaintiff claimed that she was forced to drive her vehicle across a double yellow line to go around the defendant's truck. The defendant's vehicle was backing up into a loading dock, and the left rear of the defendant's vehicle struck the passenger door of the plaintiff's auto. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on a negligence theory of recovery.
