Suzanne Garcia and Tammy Dennison required the use of motorized wheelchairs due to disabilities. They frequented the United Security Bank as clients and claimed that United Security Bank violated California law and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) due to insufficient accommodations.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiffs contended that United Security Bank denied them equal and full access to public accommodations inside the bank and an ATM adjacent to it. Further, the defendant placed a severely sloped landing near the ATM and located the ATM too close to the bank's front door. They also claimed that teller windows were extremely high.
Result
The parties settled for $50,883.
