Facts

Disability Rights Advocates filed a complaint against Cinemark Holdings Inc. for its failure to offer closed-captioning equipment to consumers. Cinemark was only one of the nations three largest movie chains not to offer such equipment. Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment Inc. both provided captioning to its customers.

Result

As part of a settlement, Cinemark agreed to install closed captioning devices for people with impaired hearing in all 64 of its California movie theaters by the middle of 2012.
