Plaintiff Carol Frazer claimed she left two expensive diamond rings and a drawing (family heirlooms worth $70,000) with defendant John Gangel for appraisal.

The drawing was returned after the lawsuit was filed. Plaintiff did not accept the ring that was tendered, contending that it was "not hers."

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff testified that the items were worth $70,000.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant claimed that he received one zircon ring and drawing with no provenance, and not two diamond rings.

Result

The court ruled in favor of the defense. The case settled following judgment.
