Facts

Server Technology Inc. filed an infringement lawsuit against American Power Conversion Corp., which then filed counterclaims against Server.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF/COUNTER-DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Server alleged rights over U.S. Patent No. 7,043,543 ('534 patent) entitled "Vertical-Mount Electrical Power Distribution Plugstrip," and U.S. Patent No. 7,702,771 entitled "Electrical Power Distribution Device Having a Current Display," two other asserted patents. Server alleged that APC's products infringed on its patents. Particularly, Server alleged that APC's APC 7900 Series and APC 8900 Series infringed on the '543 and '771 patents.

DEFENDANT/COUNTER-PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
American Power denied Server's allegations, and asserted various affirmative defenses. In addition, it filed counter-claims for declaratory judgment of non-infringement and patent invalidity, as well as a claim for patent infringement.

Result

The jury rendered a verdict in favor of Server, and awarded it $10,787,634 in total damages for reasonable royalty.
