Facts

Plaintiff Tinkers & Chance is a partnership of two Bay Area attorneys formed in the 1990s to license their intellectual property. Defendant LeapFrog Enterprises Inc. is an Emeryville-based educational toy company.

Plaintiff claimed that in 1995 they invented the concept of having children control computers via "graspable, movable objects." The USPTO issued plaintiffs a series of patents covering certain forms of child-computer interaction.

In 2005, plaintiff sued defendant for patent infringement.

Result

Settlement whereby plaintiff Tinkers & Chance will receive $7.5 million from LeapFrog.
