Plaintiff Zulema Perez was employed as a clerk for defendants Kiansi Boni and Nimrod Medical Group Inc. beginning in June 2008. She was terminated in September. Perez filed suit against Boni and Nimrod Medical, alleging sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, battery, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour violations, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Perez contended that while employed, Boni made offensive comments requesting sex, as well as inquiries into her sex life while also subjecting Perez to his own sexual stories. Perez further alleged that Boni once grabbed her and threw her into a medical room and at least four times asked for sex or offered her money in exchange for sex. She stated that all female employees were subject to the same hostile work environment.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Boni and Nimrod Medical denied all allegations.
Damages
Perez sought damages for past and future lost earnings and benefits, loss of use, reputation damage, loss of employability, stress, anxiety, and mental anguish, as well as severe emotional distress, attorney fees, punitive and exemplary damages.
Result
The parties reached a settlement for $100,000.
