Facts

Gabriel Flores was riding his bicycle southbound on Vermont Avenue when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Eugene Morrow.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Flores filed suit against Morrow, alleging he was inattentive and was looking left in order to merge when he struck Flores. Flores contended he was wearing a fluorescent vest, and had affixed his bike and his person with flashing warning lights to make him more visible.

Damages

Flores sought damages of $19,768 for past medical expenses as well as $8,255 to $8,277 for property damages.

Injuries

Flores sustained injuries to his back and right hip.

Result

The jury awarded Flores $174,455.
