Facts

From April 2004 to Aug. 2006, Stephen Mann D.D.S. was Edward Smalley's dentist. Smalley sued Mann in relation to dental treatment, alleging malpractice.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff claimed that defendant was going to install six dental implants and veneers or crowns on 21 of his teeth. Further, plaintiff alleged that defendant performed negligently, claiming that several of his teeth broke. Plaintiff also claimed that he could not masticate, a bridge had to be removed, he had to undergo a root canal, and teeth had to extracted. Last, plaintiff claimed that his teeth were left in a worse condition that prior to the procedure.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant argued that plaintiff's restorations failed because he was grinding his teeth.

Damages

Plaintiff requested $69,350.

Result

The jury found in favor of the defense, and awarded $24,841 in costs.
