Wanning Qian sued the City of Oakland.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that an employee of the City of Oakland was driving a city-owned sewer truck when he ran a red light and struck another vehicle. Plaintiff further alleged that as a result of the collision the city truck came onto the sidewalk where the plaintiff was walking and struck him.

Specials in Evidence

Plaintiff alleged $471,000 in past medical costs. Plaintiff alleged $135,000 in future medical costs.

Injuries

Plaintiff alleged that he suffered fractured ribs, and injuries to his knee and spleen, as well as lacerations to his face. Plaintiff also alleged post-traumatic stress disorder.

Result

The parties agreed to settle the lawsuit for $2 million.
