Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs alleged that the decedent, who was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, followed up at defendant's hospital where the staff planned to perform surgery to remove the tumor from her brain. However, defendants postponed her surgery, and the decedent died as a result of the tumor growing, which caused pressure and swelling of her brain. Plaintiffs, the decedent's surviving family, alleged that defendant contributed to her death.
Injuries
Plaintiffs claimed decedent died from complications resulting from the delay in brain surgery.
Result
The county settled for $1.65 million.
