Facts

On Aug. 11, 2010, Nathan Kendall was riding his bicycle on Haight Street in San Francisco. Stephen B. Stokes II opened the door of his parked car, colliding into Kendall with it. Kendall was ejected from his bicycle and landed on his shoulder. Kendall sued Stokes.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Kendall argued that Stokes was negligent, in that he had failed to pay attention when opening his driver side door.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Stokes did not seriously dispute liability, but contested the damages.

Damages

Kendall sought $4,324 for past medical costs.

Injuries

Kendall fractured his left shoulder, requiring the usage of a sling for six weeks.

Result

The parties settled for $25,000.
