Facts
On April 8, 1997, claimant Theresa Renaud, a 32-year-old office clerk, was stopped westbound on Broadway at the intersection with Gaviota in Long Beach when she was rear-ended by a hit and run driver. Claimant claimed that it was a high speed and very forceful impact. Claimant received soft tissue injuries for which she received chiropractic care for three months. The hit and run driver was ultimately found liable, and her insurance paid $15,000 policy limits for the injuries of the claimant. The claimant's insurance carrier paid $5,000 on the medical pay portion of their policy. The claimant had $25,000 coverage on her underinsured motorist insurance. In the arbitration, she was seeking the remaining $10,000 of coverage.
