Facts

The city of Glendale was scheduled to acquire two parcels of real property owned by the Lawson Family Trust pursuant to the California Dept. of Transportation's plan to upgrade Route 5, the Golden State Highway. In the city's eminent domain action, the Lawson Family Trust did not dispute the city's right to take the property, but took issue with its appraisal of the property's value.

The plaintiff contended the property was worth $3,472,000. The defendant sought $5.2 million for the parcels.

Result

The parties reached a $4.5 million settlement following mediation with Enrique Romero.
