Claimant Lois Lovins brought an action against respondent UBS Financial Services Inc. for bad faith termination, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, illegal termination during protected disability leave, California and federal statute violations, breach of contract, failure to supervise, negligent hiring, tortious interference with present and prospective economic advantage, and negligent retention.
During the arbitration hearing, claimant dismissed her bad faith termination, illegal termination, and negligent hiring and retention claims.

Damages
Initially, in her Statement of Claim, claimant requested $2 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages. Claimant requested $484,266 in compensatory damages, and $484,266 in punitive damages and attorney fees, at the arbitration hearing.
Result
The arbitration panel awarded claimant $275,000 in compensatory damages and denied all other claims for relief.
