Case number: TSCA-09-2007-0001 Settlement –  $125,000

Facts

In 2001, the federal government alleged that 12 Los Angeles property owners had failed to provide tenants with information about the possible presence of lead on their properties. The U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency contacted Brick Investment Corp., a general partner for some of the landlords, alleging that the property owners violated the federal Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992 and the Lead Disclosure Rule.

Result

The parties reached a $125,000 settlement (divided between HUD and EPA). The defendants also agreed to certify their compliance with the Lead Disclosure Rule.
