Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Fujifilm Corporation contended that many of Motorola Mobility LLC's mobile devices and tablets infringed four of Fujifilm's patents, including its monochrome patent that converted digital photos to black and white.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Motorola denied the allegations of infringement and asserted various affirmative defenses. It counterclaimed, seeking declarations of invalidity and non-infringement.
Result
The jury found that Motorola infringed its monochrome patent and awarded it $10,240,000. It did not find the infringement to be willful. It also found Motorola infringed Fujifilm's data-transfer patent but found the patent was invalid. It also invalidated both of Fujifilm's face-recognition patents.
