Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs alleged that defendants rented spaces in Inner City Express Inc.'s parking lot to plaintiffs, who parked their mobile homes and lived there. Plaintiffs further alleged that defendants supplied the mobile homes with water and electricity, but regularly shut off the water and electricity in an attempt to force the plaintiff's to vacate the premises and which also created a health and safety hazard. Plaintiffs also alleged that after they demanded that defendants resume providing them with water and electricity, defendants, in retaliation, served them each with a 30-day notice to terminate his or her tenancy.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants denied the allegations in plaintiffs' complaint.
Result
After a bench trial, the court found in favor of the plaintiffs and awarded each of the individual plaintiff's damages against the defendants. The total amount of damages awarded was $104,400.
Other Information
On Sept. 24, 2014, the court awarded attorney fees to plaintiffs in the amount of $93,151.25.
