Facts

On Dec. 28, 2004, decedent Alonso Arce drove his waste disposal truck in the alleyway near 4th and Jefferson in Los Angeles when a live, dangling electrical wire came into contact with his vehicle, killing him.

Decedent's sons Jose Arce and Damian Arce, a minor, alleged defendant Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was negligent in maintaining the wires.

Result

The parties settled for $200,000 (Plaintiff Damian Arce $100,000, $25,000 attorney fees and costs of $1,500; Plaintiff Jose Arce $100,000).
