Plaintiff South Tahoe Redevelopment Agency wanted to construct a convention center and commercial condominiums on 10,854 square feet of commercial property in South Lake Tahoe. In September 2006, plaintiff brought a condemnation action against defendant property owners Lon Dorsey, Jean Stringer, James Kloman, Ann Ryan, Jerry Sutkamp, Joyce Friedman, Andrea Bailey, Beth West, Harrison Stacey, Vincent Ryan, Edward McCarthy, Deborah Simpson, Conocophillips Co., Robert Daly, Sierra Nevada Realty Inc., William Mullin, Paradise Timeshare Resale Inc., and McP's Pub Tahoe Inc. Plaintiff settled with defendants McCarthy, Simpson, Conocophillips, Daly, Sierra Nevada Realty, Mullin, Paradise Timeshare Resale, and McP's Pub prior to trial.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiff contended its appraisers properly valued the property at $2.5 million.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
The defendants contended the fair market value was $3.7 million according to their real estate expert.

Result

The jury awarded defendants $3.2 million.
