Facts

Robert Nevarez and Sharon Shaffer, two deputy chiefs in the Fresno Police department, filed suit against the City of Fresno for emotional distress, alleging that Police Chief Jerry Dyer created a hostile work environment by harassing them and making demeaning comments about minorities.

Result

Settlement in the amount of $100,000 to Robert Nevarez and $100,000 to Sharon Shaffer, with each party receiving payments in $25,000 annual installments. In addition, Plaintiffs' attorney will receive $100,000 in attorney fees and costs.
