Facts

DC Comics and Sanrio Inc. sued UFindings LLC and others. DC Comics held copyrights to "Batman," while Sanrio held copyrights to "Hello Kitty." Defendants own a retail business that actively sold, distributed, and manufactured cell phone charms, accessories, jewelry and other merchandise.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs claimed defendants sold unlicensed counterfeit products that bore plaintiffs' exclusive copyrights and trademarks. Plaintiffs asserted causes of action for copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and unfair competition, and sought a permanent injunction, preventing the defendants from continuing their infringing activities.

Result

The court granted a permanent injunction, restraining defendants from infringing on plaintiffs' copyrights and trademarks.
