Facts

On Sept. 30, 2010, Taye Marshall was driving when he was rear-ended by Alexandra Venter. Marshall sued Venter, alleging that she was negligent in the operation of her vehicle. Marshall claimed that as he approached heavy traffic, he slowed his vehicle to a stop and Venter struck him. He contended that Venter was inattentive to heavy traffic on the highway and failed to stop her vehicle in time to avoid impact.

Venter conceded liability.

Damages

Marshall sought recovery of $24,597.95 in medical costs, $2,556 in lost earnings, and an unspecified amount for pain and suffering.

Injuries

Marshall was diagnosed with soft-tissue strains and sprains. He treated with chiropractic care.

Result

The parties settled for $30,000.
