Plaintiffs were current and former firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department, assigned to the Rescue Maintenance Unit. They brought a wage and hour claim against their employer, the City of Los Angeles.

Plaintiffs contended that defendant failed to pay them overtime compensation, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
