While crossing the intersection of Haskell Avenue and Vanowen Street in Van Nuys on Dec. 5, 2007, while the "walk" sign was illuminated, plaintiff was struck by a 1995 Ford F-350 truck operated by defendant Jose Ibanex and owned by defendants BFI Waste Systems of North America LLC and Allied Waste Services of North America LLC. Plaintiff, through his brother and guardian ad litem, Alan Steinman, filed a complaint.
