Facts

On Nov. 17, 2010, Shabrena Shepard, was driving on the101 Freeway in Burbank in the City of Los Angeles, while Monica Johnson sat as a passenger in the car. A vehicle operated by Susan Aldatz rear-ended Shepard's vehicle. Shepard and Johnson sued Aldatz, alleging negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs alleged that Shepard slowed down because of upcoming traffic near an exit of the freeway, and that Defendant failed to pay attention or slow down, thereby causing the accident.

Damages

Shepard claimed past medical costs totaling $10,600, and Johnson sought $4,600 in past medical costs.

Injuries

Plaintiffs' injuries included back and neck injury, bulging cervical disc, soft tissue injury, and strains and sprains. Plaintiffs underwent chiropractic treatment and physical therapy.

Result

Shepard received $15,000 in settlement at Defendant's insurance policy limits, and Johnson received $3,475 in settlement.
