Facts
Doran Harouni was driving her vehicle along a street in Encino when she collided with another vehicle driven by Irvin Ward as she entered an intersection. Harouni sued Ward for motor vehicle negligence claiming aggravation of a pre-existing jaw injury.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that Defendant pulled into the intersection from a stop sign and directly into the path of her vehicle. Thus, Plaintiff contended that Defendant caused the broadside collision.
Damages
Harouni sought general damages.
Injuries
Harouni's airbag deployed, causing a facial contusion. The accident caused an aggravation of her pre-existing internal derangement of the left temporomandibular joint. She then underwent physical therapy. Ward disputed her claims, alleging that the jaw complaints were not related to the car accident.
Result
The jury found Ward liable for the accident and that his negligence caused Harouni's injuries. The jury awarded Harouni $7,500 in general damages.
