Facts
Jahrell Hayes filed a habeas petition against Warden Warren Montgomery.
In 2013, a jury convicted Hayes on six counts of aggravating kidnapping to commit robbery and related charges. He was then sentenced to an indeterminate term of 124 years to life plus a determinate term of 146 years and six months. In 2015, he successfully appealed two of his convictions for kidnapping for robbery. His sentence was subsequently reduced to an indeterminate term of 86-years-to-life and a determinate term of 168 years and six months. The Court of Appeal otherwise affirmed the judgment. Thereafter, Hayes petitioned the California Supreme Court for review, which was denied. Hayes then filed this petition for habeas relief.
