Facts

Plaintiff Sadeq Naji filed suit against his employer the San Francisco Public Library and the City and County of San Francisco, in relation to an employment dispute.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff, who is Muslim of Yemeni descent, worked as a security guard at the San Francisco Public Library. Plaintiff contended that he was subjected to harassment by a co-worker due to his national origin and religion. He claimed that although he reported the conduct to his supervisors, they failed to take action.

He asserted causes of action for religious discrimination, religious harassment, national origin discrimination, national origin harassment, race discrimination, failure to prevent discrimination/harassment from occurring, retaliation, assault/workplace violence, and failure to permit employees to disclose working conditions.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants contended that several of plaintiff's causes of action failed to state a claim because he did not allege that he was subjected to an adverse employment action.

Result

The parties settled for $30,000.
