Facts

Plaintiffs Don and Sharon Felker alleged that Don Felker was injured after working with asbestos products manufactured, distributed, and sold by multiple defendants, including Kaiser Cement and Kaiser Gypsum Company Inc.

Injuries

The plaintiffs suffered from mesothelioma and loss of consortium.

Result

The jury entered a verdict for plaintiff Don Felker which included $26,000 for past medical expenses; $180,000 for economic damages; and $3,500,000 in non-economic damages. Plaintiff Sharon Felker received $1.5 million in loss of consortium. The jury assessed 35 percent comparative fault to Kaiser Cement and 3 percent to Kaiser Gypsum. 62 percent was allocated to other entities. The cases was then resolved after the entry of judgment.
