Facts

On March 28, 2013, the City of Santa Ana filed an eminent domain action to acquire property owned by defendants Angelina Salgado, Lydia Audette, Alfonso Hernandez, Zeke Hernandez, Gregory Hernandez, and Gilbert Hernandez. The property, located at the southwest corner of Grand Ave. and Third St., included a commercial building used for auto services.

The city sought the Hernandez Family's property for its Grand Avenue widening project.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The city initially offered $530,000 for the Hernandez Family's property.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The Hernandez Family claimed that the property was worth substantially more than the city's deposit.

Result

The city ultimately agreed to pay the Hernandez Family $1,115,000 for the property.
