France Telecom alleged that it owned a patent relating to the invention of "turbo codes." France Telecom further alleged that Marvell manufactured certain communications processors that infringed France Telecom's patent.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Marvell denied the allegations of France Telecom's claims.

After a jury trial, a jury found that Marvell directly infringed on France Telecom's patent. The jury awarded France Telecom a lump sum of $1.7 million.
