Grady Williams sued the Sanum Clinic for medical negligence.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May 2010, but that defendant negligently failed to discover or treat it during a 2006 prostate exam. Plaintiff also argued defendant was negligent in not performing annual rectal exams.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants denied the allegations of plaintiffs' claims and argued that it met the standard of care, that the cancer was not present in 2006, and that any delay in diagnosis or treatment did not cause harm.

Damages

Plaintiff alleged damages totaling $1,850,000, which included $700,000 for future lost income, $900,000 for lost pension, and $250,000 for pain and suffering.

Result

The jury denied plaintiff's claims because defendant, while negligent, did not cause plaintiff's alleged harm.
