On July 12, 2006, plaintiff, a project manager, was on defendant's premises at noon. She slipped and fell in the cafeteria while holding a Snapple bottle.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiff contended that the defendant failed to clean up a prior spill and failed to cordon off the area, clean the area properly, reroute the patrons, or verbally warn them of the danger.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The defendant contended that they acted properly and placed warning cones that plaintiff ignored. They also disputed the nature and extent of plaintiff's injuries.

Injuries
The plaintiff sustained laceration of the thenar muscles, laceration of the flexor pollicis longus and several nerve branches to the thumb and index finger requiring surgical intervention including repair of the nerve. The vascular clamp was removed in a subsequent surgery.
Result
The case settled at second mediation with Cynthia Pasternak for $175,000.
