Facts

On May 13, 2008, at 6:45 a.m., the decedent, age 36, was riding his BMW motorcycle westbound on Grantline Road in Sacramento. As he entered the intersection with Eagles Nest Road, a 2008 Toyota Prius owned and operated by defendant abruptly pulled out from a stop sign in an attempt to make a left turn and collided with the motorcycle. The decedent was declared dead at the scene.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiff contended that the defendant violated Vehicle Code section 21802(a) (failure to yield the right-of-way).

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The defendant questioned the nature and extent of plaintiff's damages.

Result

The case settled for $2,250,000.
