Facts
On May 11, 2005, plaintiffs Katia Rivas and her son, Jesus Almaraz, were riding in defendant Leonardo Rivas' vehicle. While on La Cienega Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard, Rivas' vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by defendant Sarkis Ohanjanyan and owned by his employer, defendant LA Checker Cab Cooperative.
Katia Rivas and Jesus Almaraz filed suit for motor vehicle negligence.
Damages
Katia Rivas sought damages in the amount of $18,968 for medical expenses and Jesus Almaraz sought $15,884 for medical expenses.
Injuries
Plaintiffs only had emergency room care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. No follow-up treatment was necessary. Katia Rivas claimed a fracture to her right foot. Jesus Almaraz claimed abrasions on his abdomen.
Result
The parties settled for $39,187. $25,000 went to Katia Rivas, $14,187 went to Jesus Almaraz.
